"Hang In There"

Hello Everyone!

Today, I am excited to share with you, this card that I made tonight for the Denami Design Sketch Challenge. I definitely enjoyed doing this challenge, and I just love those Denami monkeys hanging from the vines! :) I used colored pencils and gamsol in order to color in the monkeys. The background was stamped with the Fern Stamp from Hero arts, and I also embellished the card with some ribbon and twine, and then added a small flower with a rhinestone in the middle. Here is a picture of that what sketch looked like for this challenge.

If any of you are interested in also participating in this challenge, there is still time to submit. The challenge does not end until March 30^th, 2010. As I stated before, this challenge was lots of fun. So I definitely recommend trying it!

I would also like to share another card on here today. I made this card a few months ago. However, it was made using the same stamps and sentiment. I think it's a great card to give to someone who may be going through a tough time in their life. The words “Hang in There” are sincere and motivating, and the monkeys just add a little bit of humor to make a person smile.

Well, I really hope you enjoyed these two cards. This will actually be my last post for the month of March, because I am going on vacation for the next 10 days. I’m off to Colombia! :) I will be leaving later on today. Unfortunately, I’m a huge procrastinator, and I’m still not even finished packing yet. Ahhh!... Somehow, this always happens to me whenever I go on vacation. I absolutely LOVE to travel, but I HATE to pack! LoL, I don’t exactly know why. It’s just something I’ve never really been a fan of.

Ok, well enough babbling for today. I’m off to finish my packing. I have a long day ahead of me. Hopefully I’ll be able to get some sleep while I’m on the plane!

Easter Bunnies

Good Morning Everyone!

Spring is here! And that means that Easter is just around the corner! So today I would like to share with you this Easter card that I made last night. I recently purchased a few new stamps from the new Hero Arts’ Spring Collection. I was so excited to come home and see a package waiting for me with my new stamps. So I didn’t waste any time with getting started on a card. :)

As you can see in the following picture, I decided to make a few alterations to the original stamped images.

To start with.....

I stamped both of the stamps that I was using with Memento black ink. 

Then I quickly colored the images in with Copic markers.

I didn’t worry about staying in the lines, because I knew that I was going to be cutting the images out afterwards. Therefore, it did not matter.

Then, after cutting out the images, I ran some green cardstock through my Cuttlebug machine in order to emboss my “grass”.

I then stamped the Clouds Background from Hero Arts onto the base of my card, and then went on to assembling all of the pieces together.

Aren't those bunnies so adorable??!!!

They look so "cool" & serious... Haha!

Here’s a look at the card again, along with the stamps that I used to make my cut-outs from.

I will say, that it’s not my “usual” style of cards... But I am still pretty pleased with the way it turned out.

The bright colors are definitely perfect for Spring! :)

I also made another version of this same card, only I used different bunny stamps that I had in my collection. It’s a much simpler look. But it’s still pretty cute. Here’s what it looks like:

  Well, that’s all I have for today. Hope everyone has had a great week. Mine has been pretty hectic lately. I can’t tell you how happy I am that the weekend is just around the corner. Yay!... It always seems like there’s sooo much to do, and just not enough time! LoL…. The reason I’ve been so busy lately is due to the fact that I’ve been trying to do a bunch of errands and get stuff done, because I’m actually leaving next week to go on vacation. I’m going with my family to Colombia. I’m very excited about this trip, because traveling is one of my absolute most favorite things to do. Especially if it involves going somewhere out of the country. So I leave next Thursday, and I just can’t wait! :)

     I will definitely try my best to do another post before I leave. Hopefully I’ll have some internet access while I’m over. I’ll have to wait and see. But until next time….. Hope everyone has a great Friday!!!

Just A Few Creations

Helloooo Everyone!

    I just wanted to take some time to post a few cards that I have made, both recently and in the past. There is not one specific theme or occasion for all of these, but since my blog is not very old, I wanted to share more projects so that readers could get a better feel for my style and overall work.

This first card, shown above, is one that I made for a wedding that I went to a few months ago. The “Heart Flourish” stamp is one of my favorites from Hero Arts.

This second card, above, is one that I was inspired to make after taking a class at my local craft store. The technique we learned involved emboss resist and also coloring the flowers using distress inks. The Heart Flourish was stamped in Versamark in order to resist the ink as it was being placed on the tag. The background was made by continuously stamping the Old French Writing stamp from Hero Arts and then adding some sponging around the edges.

This Birthday Wishes card was made using the “Doodle This” set from Stampin’ Up. I embossed the flowers with black embossing powder, and then used a blender pen to color them in. After that, I cut the flowers out and then added some glitter around the edges and on the dots, and also a single rhinestone in the middle. It may be bit hard to notice the glitter in the pictures, but it definitely adds a more elegant effect to the card, in my opinion.

And finally, this last card is a rather simple one. It's blank on the inside, therefore it can be used for any occasion. I stamped and embossed the flower from the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set from Stampin’ Up. In order to color the flower, I used some Pixie Pink SU ink and rolled it on with a brayer. I love using a brayer! :) When I was making this card, I colored several of these flowers at the same time. Using a brayer is a great technique for coloring in mass production. I will try to post the rest of the cards I made with this flower in another post soon.

Butterfly Hearts Card and Holiday Card

Hi Everyone...

Ok, well since my initial introduction, I guess you could call this my first official post in regards to an actual project of mine. Being that I just recently started my blog and we are already on our way into the month of March, I wanted to share some of my creations from earlier this year.

This first picture, shown above, is a photo of a project that I made for some of my girl friends this year for Valentine's Day. Rather than just making a card, I wanted to be able to give them some candy and other little gifts as well. So I decided to use one of Papertrey Ink’s Timeless Templates in order to make this picnic basket with the matching card.

These baskets were lots of fun to make. The flourish stamp from Hero Arts is one of my favorite stamps. I stamped in various places with the Rasberry Fizz ink. In order to give the project more dimension, I added some sponging to the basket handles and also some glitter to the butterfly and its trail of hearts. It might be hard to notice in the picture.

But here’s a closer look..............

The tiny hearts were the left-over scraps from using the Lace Heart border punch. I never like to let those little pieces go to waste! =) 

I also added some embossing and some more sponging to the white center piece of the card.
In addition to this project, I also decided to make "opposite" card. I used the exact same layout as my first card, only I switched the colors around and used the pink cardstock as the card base, and then I used the kraft cardstock on top. I figured it was a simple way to get some more variety with this project.

This is how it turned out......

I placed the pictures side by side, so that it would be easier to compare.The only main difference, besides the colors, is that on the pink one I rounded the corners. But other than that, the layout is exactly the same for both cards.

And here is just another quick look at the original card along with some of the others from the same set.

AND NOW... I'd like to take you a couple months back and share with you my Christmas card for this past holiday season.....
