Hello Everyone!
Today I am sharing a card that I made for the OTWC Challenge #10- "Mad Hatter Madness". The theme and requirement for this particular challenge was to make a project inspired by the infamous movie of "Alice in Wonderland".
Before I show you my card, I would like to share with you where I got my inspiration from:
As I was searching around the internet for some ideas, I came across this fabulous cake on the Marmalade Cake Company website, and I immediately thought it was perfect! It was like a cake straight out of the "Alice in Wonderland" movie itself! So colorful and whimsical and just absolutely stunning! In fact, I actually got pretty distracted and spent quite a bit of time browsing around this company's website. I was completely blown away with their brilliant Cupcake Towers and gorgeous Wedding Cakes.
I was so impressed with the "Alice in Wonderland" cake (shown above) that I knew I wanted to base my card off of it for the challenge. Sooo... I reached for my new Bake Me A Cake set from Lawn Fawn, along with some pattern stamps from Practicing Creativity and Papertrey Ink, and came up with this........
So, what do you guys think????...... Did I do a decent job at re-creating the cake? I tried my best to mimic the same patterns from the "real" cake. Unfortunately, I didn't have a purple striped cat for the top. So instead I just added on an extra layer of cake, and I just used the same colors of the cat. I used an image from the For the Love of Dots set to stamp the fourth layer, as well as for the background base of the card too.
It's hard to tell from just this photo, but the cake is actually 3-dimensional, and the candle flames also have glossy accents on them. I'll try to take some better pics soon, so I can update this one.
I really hope you guys enjoyed this card, and hopefully I was able to provide some inspiration to some of you today. I'd love to hear your comments and feedback about my "whimsical cake"! :)
Thanks so much for reading today! Hope you visit again soon!
