Hellooo Everyone! :)
So since I've recently been posting a bunch of Christmas cards on my blog lately, I figured I would just continue the streak for bit longer. Don't worry, I'm still aware of the fact that Halloween and Thanksgiving have not even passed yet. So I promise to share some more "Fall" theme cards with you real soon!
But in the mean time, today I'm sharing this Penny Black card that I recently made up for both the current Caardvarks Challenge- ("Inside & Out") and also the Wee Memories Challenge #28- ("Cute Holidays").
First off, I would just like to state that this card was extremely difficult for me to photograph. It is a much longer card that my usual ones, so I wasn't used to dealing with the length. Thus I ended up having to make some changes to my set-up when I was taking pictures. I tried to include a lot of close-ups in this post, so that it would be easier to see.
Here is the original image (shown below) that I used for my card:
As you can see, there is only one reindeer being pulled by the cute hedgehog. However, when I first saw this stamp, I instantly imagined a slightly different scene in my head. Does that ever happen to you when you purchase stamps?
I envisioned the hedgehog to be leading a whole row of reindeer, instead of just one. I figured the reindeer would be lonely and plus he would look much cuter with some friends... HAHA! :) So that's exactly what I did with this card.....
I gave him friends! Yay!... LoL... Simply by stamping the original image multiple times on a separate sheet and cutting them out individually, I was then able to choose exactly which parts I wanted to use and which parts I didn't.
I also added some thick twine for the rope, and I made little loops and adhered it all down with Glossy Accents. In order to lift up the hedgehog's mitten, I simply cut around it with an exacto knife and then curled it over the "rope" so that he would appear to be holding it.
Oh, and of course I had to add a red rhinestone to the nose of the first reindeer! :-)
And lastly, here is a peek at the inside of the card. I decided to keep it pretty simple, because I didn't want it to compete too much with the front of the card. The sentiment, which reads "Wishing you peace, happiness, and warmth of the season", and the snowflakes are both from this set from Hero Arts.
Hope you all enjoyed my card today! I sure had fun making it. It's always fun to create a little scene in your head and then be able to re-create it on paper! :)
Thanks so much for stopping by today!!!
