Bright & Colorful Summer Cards

Hi Everyone!

Today i'd like to share two very bright and colorful Summer cards that I made up for a few different challenges that are currently being held. The color scheme for my first card (shown above) is from Moxie Fab's Tuesday Trigger inspiration photo:

I absolutely fell in love those colors the second I saw them! Lots of white space with splashes of vibrant greens, pinks, and oranges! Love it!...

I also wanted to play along in the Wee Memories' "Piece It Together" Challenge #8... Therefore, I figured the new Artists Butterfly, from Hero Arts, would be a perfect match for this project, because I was able to stamp it onto colored paper from "Basic Grey", and then cut it up into different sections in order to form layers. I paper pieced the inside portion of the butterflies in a different color than the base, and then adhered the top layer on with dimesionals. Then to finish up the card, I also added some liquid pearls and Glossy Accents to the butterfly wings, in order to add some extra details. Here's a close up:

My next card was made up was made for the Off the Wall Craftiness Challenge #9. I used the gorgeous color combo from the inspiration photo shown below. And the sketch is from 2S4Y #53.

I also made sure to meet the requirements for the Creative Inspirations Challenge #35: "Sewing/Faux Stitching" and the Cupcake Craft Challenge #93: "Summer Delights". Thus you will notice my white gel pen stitch marks, along with the images of one of my favorite "Summer treats"... Ice Cream!

I'm not sure if you can tell from the picture or not, but I also added Glossy Accents to the "scoops" of ice-cream. It took a little while for it to dry comepletely, however the result is fantastic, in my opinion. I think I use it more on cards, as an embellishment, than I do for adhesive! lol

Well, that's all for today! I really hope you enjoyed these two cards. Using bright and vibrant colors is something that I love to do! So that is mainly why I was instantly drawn to these particular challenge inspiration photos.

Pink Manhattan Floral Card

 

Hi guys!.... I'm back again with just another quick post today, with a card that I made for the Wee Memories Challenge #6. The requirements for this particular challenge were to use the color pink and also to utilize embellishments. So for this card, I made the background out of pink cardstock and stamped it with "Old French Writing" from Hero Arts with Versamark ink. And for the embellishments, I added a few pretty rhinestones on the corners. Quick & Simple! =)

You may remember this exact sketch from one of my previous cards from this post, HERE. I used the same exact layout, but just switched around the colors and enhanced the background a bit more. I actually think I like this new one much better! =) Do any of you guys ever go back and attempt to re-do any of your cards??... I don't usually do it, but I do "think" about it a lot. Many times, I look back at some of my old work and think to myself: "What was I thinking??"... Haha!... I guess our styles and tastes are constantly changing throughout the years. So the things we used to love, aren't always the same things we like now. LoL... well, at least that's how I feel. Let me know if any of you guys ever feel the same way too!

Just A Few Creations

Helloooo Everyone!

    I just wanted to take some time to post a few cards that I have made, both recently and in the past. There is not one specific theme or occasion for all of these, but since my blog is not very old, I wanted to share more projects so that readers could get a better feel for my style and overall work.

This first card, shown above, is one that I made for a wedding that I went to a few months ago. The “Heart Flourish” stamp is one of my favorites from Hero Arts.

This second card, above, is one that I was inspired to make after taking a class at my local craft store. The technique we learned involved emboss resist and also coloring the flowers using distress inks. The Heart Flourish was stamped in Versamark in order to resist the ink as it was being placed on the tag. The background was made by continuously stamping the Old French Writing stamp from Hero Arts and then adding some sponging around the edges.

This Birthday Wishes card was made using the “Doodle This” set from Stampin’ Up. I embossed the flowers with black embossing powder, and then used a blender pen to color them in. After that, I cut the flowers out and then added some glitter around the edges and on the dots, and also a single rhinestone in the middle. It may be bit hard to notice the glitter in the pictures, but it definitely adds a more elegant effect to the card, in my opinion.

And finally, this last card is a rather simple one. It's blank on the inside, therefore it can be used for any occasion. I stamped and embossed the flower from the Fifth Avenue Floral stamp set from Stampin’ Up. In order to color the flower, I used some Pixie Pink SU ink and rolled it on with a brayer. I love using a brayer! :) When I was making this card, I colored several of these flowers at the same time. Using a brayer is a great technique for coloring in mass production. I will try to post the rest of the cards I made with this flower in another post soon.

Butterfly Hearts Card and Holiday Card

Hi Everyone...

Ok, well since my initial introduction, I guess you could call this my first official post in regards to an actual project of mine. Being that I just recently started my blog and we are already on our way into the month of March, I wanted to share some of my creations from earlier this year.

This first picture, shown above, is a photo of a project that I made for some of my girl friends this year for Valentine's Day. Rather than just making a card, I wanted to be able to give them some candy and other little gifts as well. So I decided to use one of Papertrey Ink’s Timeless Templates in order to make this picnic basket with the matching card.

These baskets were lots of fun to make. The flourish stamp from Hero Arts is one of my favorite stamps. I stamped in various places with the Rasberry Fizz ink. In order to give the project more dimension, I added some sponging to the basket handles and also some glitter to the butterfly and its trail of hearts. It might be hard to notice in the picture.

But here’s a closer look..............

The tiny hearts were the left-over scraps from using the Lace Heart border punch. I never like to let those little pieces go to waste! =) 

I also added some embossing and some more sponging to the white center piece of the card.
In addition to this project, I also decided to make "opposite" card. I used the exact same layout as my first card, only I switched the colors around and used the pink cardstock as the card base, and then I used the kraft cardstock on top. I figured it was a simple way to get some more variety with this project.

This is how it turned out......

I placed the pictures side by side, so that it would be easier to compare.The only main difference, besides the colors, is that on the pink one I rounded the corners. But other than that, the layout is exactly the same for both cards.

And here is just another quick look at the original card along with some of the others from the same set.

AND NOW... I'd like to take you a couple months back and share with you my Christmas card for this past holiday season.....
